Former Black Starlets player, Awudu Issaka has said Ghana is complaining of the new format for qualifying because we failed to make it to the Africa U17 tournament.

According to him, if we had qualified, there would be no reason for Ghanaians to complain.

Ghana failed to qualify for the African U17 youth championship after being beaten on penalties by Nigeria in the finals of the WAFU U-17 zone B tournament held in Niger.

Following Ghana’s loss on Sunday, a section of the sporting fraternity has called on CAF to have a second look at the new qualification format.

However, former Starlets player, Awudu thinks otherwise.

“Ghana had a representative when the decision to use that format was made. It’s now a problem because we failed to qualify.” He said on Agoo TV.

Awudu has however urged management of the Starlets team to support the coach groom the players he called for the tournament.

According to him, they are the future of our national team and from their performance; if they are well groomed they can win trophies for Ghana.
