An injury time penalty, swiftly converted by Yaw Yeboah, was all Ghana needed to draw their FIFA Under 20 Group B opener Saturday.
In a second Group match played at the Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand, Ghana struggled for most of the game, only to come back to settle for a decent draw.
Argentina and Panama also settled for a 2:2 game in the first Group game.
The Black Satellites last won the competition in 2009, when it was played on African soil in Egypt. Then coached by Tetteh, and captained by Andre Dede Dede Ayew, they stunned Brazil in the finals to lift the Cup for the first time.
