Popular Ghanaian comedy film actor, Clement Bonney widely known as Mr. Beautiful has said former President, John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor is responsible for the collapse of Key Soap Concert party.
The actor disclosed that the popular comedy show which aired on TV some years back, birthed popular actors such as Agya Koo, Akrobeto and others but later went off screens without any heads –up or explanations to the audience.
Mr. Beautiful alleged that prior to the appointment of the late Eva Lokko as GBC boss by Former President J. A. Kufour, Key Soap Concert Party was widely patronized.
According to him, the reason for the cancellation of the show was due to the change in financial policy by the late Eva Lokko, who was also 2012 vice presidential candidate for Progressive Peoples Party, during her time in office as Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Director-General.
Beautiful indicated that sponsors like Lever Brothers Company, manufacturers of of soaps and detergents were unable to meet the high financial demand instituted by the late Eva Lokko.
“President Kufour is the cause of the collapse of Key Soap Concert for appointing the Madam Eva Lokko as GBC Director-General. Lever brothers couldn’t meet with the high financial demand from GBC so had to stop sponsoring the show.” Mr. Beautiful told Andy Dosty of Hitz FM.
Key Soap Concert Party on Ghana Television (GTV) was one of the popular comedy shows on TV some years back with the likes of Kofi Adu (Agya Koo), Nkomode, Bishop Bob Okalla, Araba Stamp, among others, both kids and adults enjoyed the stage performance displayed by the actors until it went off screens.
