2 arrested for trying cast ‘juju’ spell on Akufo Addo, Asantehene, EC Boss, others

The Weta Divisional Police Command aided by the Dzodze Police in the Volta Region, have arrested two suspects over an attempt to cast a spell (juju) on the President Akufo Addo and other government officials over the creation of new regions, specifically the Oti Region.

The suspects , Ebenezer Atsu, 33, and Shepherd Acolatse, 55, residents of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region traveled all the way to the Volta Region to consult powerful gods at a shrine in Weta on Wednesday, December 5, to ask that the government officials by manipulated spiritually.

According to the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ebenezer Francis Doku, the Fetish the priest, Festus Kwashie Babanawo, who said he could not destroy leaders of the country, then filed a report at the Weta Police station against the two who he had kept in his shrine.

The duo were swiftly arrested by the police after the report was filed.

In the ensuing arrest, a white paper was found on one of the suspects that had the names of the president, Akufo Addo, Mr. Justice Brobbey, Chairman for the Commission of Enquiry on creation of the new regions; the Minister for Regional Reorganization, Mr. Dan Botwe; Dr. Archibald Yaw Letsa the Volta regional minister; Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah, chairperson for the Electoral Commission and Dr. Obed Asamoah.

Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, also had his name on the list, as the suspects believe he supports the creation of the proposed Oti Region which will be dominated by Akan speaking people.

The two suspects upon interrogation disclosed, the list was given to them by one John, a resident of Ashaiman who asked them to send it to the fetish priest to cast the spell on the leaders, since they are determined to create the proposed Oti Region out of the Volta region.

The suspects are currently in custody at the Regional Police Command, in Ho.
