Abelemkpe defeated Christian Center 1-0 to lift the maiden late Hon. Boakye Agyarko Memorial Cup which came off at Bawaleshie in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Accra over the weekend.

The 11-team inter-Electoral Area gala was organized under the leadership of the National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party in honour of the Member of Parliament for the constituency who passed away a couple of months ago.

Speaking at the end of the competition, Miss Lydia Seyram Alhassan, a parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the upcoming by-election said football is the only tool that can bring political factions and the nation together. She also promised to support the organization of the competition every year.

Abelemkpe received GH¢3,000 for emerging champions, winners’ medals and a set of jerseys while runners-up Christian centre also took home GH¢2,000 cash. Dwzorwulu, who came third, also got GH¢1,000 cash and other souvenirs.

All 11 participating teams were handed appearance fee of GH¢500 and sets of jerseys prior to the start of the competition.

The maiden late Hon. Boakye Agyarko Memorial Cup was graced by National Organizer of the NPP, Sammy Awuku and Pius Enam Hadzide, a deputy Minister of Information.
