Pollster Ben Ephson believes former President John Mahama will pull 65 percent or more of votes in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries, slated for February 23, 2019.

According to him, anything short of 65 percent will send a wrong signal to their opponent, who will then capitalized on it and solidify the ground for the 2020 general elections.

“This primaries is a very interesting one, but I expect John Mahama to come top with 65 percent or more of the votes, the remaining 35 percent will be shared among the other 6 contenders,” he told Kweku Owusu Adjei on Kasapa Fm.

He, therefore, expects John Mahama to win convincingly, putting to rest all issues with regards to his popularity and whether or not Ghanaians still want to see his face on the ballot paper, come 2020.

The NDC on Wednesday announced the balloting order for its flagbearer election with Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and flagbearer hopeful Alban Bagbin getting the number one spot.

Nurudeen Iddrisu picked the 2nd spot with former President John Mahama, Sly Mensah, Spio Garbrah, Goosie Tanoh and Joshua Alabi settling for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7thspots.

The elections which will now hold on February 23, after several postponements, is to allow the party some time to settle the court case brought against it by two aggrieved members of the party.

Two members of the party, Mr Abdallah Issah and Mr James Kabu Nartey-Oman sued the party in December last year over the guidelines governing the party’s presidential primary.
