Flagbearer aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Joshua Alabi says he has questioned ex-President John Mahama why he beat him so much in the party’s just ended Presidential primaries.

The former Rector of the Univerity of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) ahead of the Flagbearer contest was tipped to give ex-President John Mahama a run for his money, but the results turned out to be directly opposite.

Former President John Mahama walloped his contenders by securing 213,443 representing 95.24% of the total vote cast.

Prof. Joshua Alabi, came in a distant second with 3,404 votes representing 1.52% of total votes cast

Alban Bagbin polled 2,313 votes representing 1.032%, Nurudeen Alhassan garnered 519, representing 0.231%, Sylvester Mensah had 932 votes representing 0.41%, Spio Garbrah polled 1,457 votes representing 0.65%.

Speaking to Joy News, Prof. Alabi stated that the margin of defeat to Mahama was a shock to him as he was confident he would perform far better.

“It’s about two and a half hours ago that we spoke, he has won I had to congratulate him, I’m a sportsman. We smiled, we joked I mean we’ve known each other for some time.

“I told him the gab was too much, he shouldn’t have gone to that level. I told him the margin was too much and he laughed over it.”
