Former President of the Republic, John Dramani, has said that under no circumstances will the National Democratic Congress (NDC) be hit with any stumbling block to prevent them from recapturing the seat of Government from their main political rivals, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), come election 2020.

The umbrella family, he said, is cruising to victory following his re-election as the flagbearer of the party a third time, stressing that endorsement of his candidacy is an indication that the NDC is a more formidable force to reckon with.

“I want to serve notice to Ghana that with the outcome of this election, the NDC is strong; the NDC is united; the NDC is poised for victory in 2020 and that nothing, absolutely nothing will stop our forward march to Flagstaff House”, the former Ghanaian Leader declared in his acceptance speech following his declaration as the flagbearer-elect by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, the body that supervised the NDC presidential primary held on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

He added “Our journey to victory in the 2020 elections begin today. It marks the beginning of the process where we wish to work together to bring truth and honesty back into our political discourse”.

Mr. Mahama polled 213,443, representing 95.24% of the total valid votes cast.

His contenders; the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Alhaji Nurudeen Iddrissu and Sylvester Mensah polled 2,313, 519 and 932 votes, representing 1.02%, 0.23% and 0.41% respectively.

Mr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah on the other hand polled 1,467 votes, representing 0.65% while Goosie Tanoh garnered 2,038 votes, representing 0.90% votes.

The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Prof. Joshua Alabi also polled 3,399 votes, representing 1.51% of the total valid votes cast.

Mr. Mahama commenting further expressed thanked God for how far He has brought the party and expressed the belief He will continue to abide with the NDC towards victory in the 2020 general elections.
