The Minister of Energy, John-Peter Amewu has cut sod for the construction of an Astroturf in the Hohoe Municipality.
The ceremony which took place on Friday, March 22, 2019, saw the Minister of Energy on behalf of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, cut the sod for the construction of the Artificial Football Park in Hohoe.
The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by Municipal Chief Executive, Teddy Ofori, the Chief Imam, Rev. Fr. Francis Denuyena and the representative from the Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited
The Energy Minister, Mr. Amewu reiterated government’s commitment to completing projects and building the capacity of Ghanaians.
“This project first commenced in the 2006/7 in the erstwhile President John AgyekumKuffour’s administration but came to a stale because of change of government. His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo is determined that projects of this nature must be completed for the benefits of the citizens of this area. The municipality is a football-loving community, therefore the football capacity and capability of the people needs to be built,” he said
Mr. Amewu, who is also an indigene of Hohoe, used the opportunity to acknowledge the immense contribution the Municipality has given him since childhood to becoming the Energy Minister and promised to return such privilege in bringing development to the people.
“As a son of the land; Hohoe, I acknowledge it’s an immense contribution towards who I am today.
Therefore, I am of the firm belief that; I should and I would do whatever necessary to bring development and progress to my people,” Mr. Amewu promised
The 2000 spectator stand capacity Artificial Football Park when completed will have changing rooms, washrooms, conference room, floodlights, volleyball court, and children’s playing ground among others.
“This is another promise fulfilled by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to Hohoe and I join the people of Hohoe in expressing our appreciation and gratitude to the President for bringing development to Hohoe,” he stated
The Artificial Football Park project will be constructed by Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited and coordinated by the Energy Minister, Hon. John-peter Amewu.
