The University of Education, Winneba will re-open today, April, 08, 2019 after a violent student protest led to the University being closed down for some three weeks.

The students have been calling for the removal of the Vice Chancellor for dismissing some lecturers and other staff.

Three of the eight dismissed lecturers since Friday have been reinstated by the Governing Council. They are Prof. Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, and Dr. Frimpong Kwaku Duku.

A statement from the Council after a meeting said the University Management and the Academic board have been tasked to review the academic calendar to cater for the loss of time and ensure that students and staff collaboratively return academic work to normalcy.

Meanwhile, the upcoming examination scheduled to begin this week have been suspended, authorities say.
