The Rector of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), Dr. Samuel Nai has lauded the contribution of the German government for film and television training in Ghana and the subregion.
According to him, the German government through its educational and cultural centre, the Goethe Institute has offered significant supports towards the teaching and learning of various disciplines within the film and television areas.
Dr. Nai was speaking in Accra when he led a delegation from NAFTI to pay courtesy call on the new Director of Goethe Institute in Ghana, Hieke Friesel at her office.
Since its establishment in 1978, NAFTI has benefited immensely from Germany through its DAAD Scholarships administered through the Goethe Institute.
Last year for instance, 15 students and a Lecturer benefited from the DAAD Scholarships.
Dr. Nai, himself a beneficiary of the German scholarship commended Goethe and Germany government for helping to improve academic and professional excellence in Film and Television.
Madam Hieke Friesel congratulated NAFTI for upholding standards and putting to good use supports offered by her outfit over the years.
The two discussed possible areas for cooperation and pledged to deepen the relationship.
Goethe Institute screens educational films and among its long-standing patrons has been NAFTI students and Lecturers.
The NAFTI Rector was accompanied Mr Kwamena Aboagye, Head of Production and Business Devt; Mr Stanley Opoku Yeboah, Head of Technical; Ms Sarah Kuntoh, Head of film Techniques and Mr Doria Danour, Registrar of NAFTI. In attendance was Mr. John Owoo, PR and Cultural Affairs Officer at the Goethe Institute.
