Ministry of Finance has released an amount of two million Ghana cedis as scholarship package for 21 national best farmers countrywide.

This is in fulfillment of President Nana Akufo Addo’s pledge made during last year’s national farmer’s Day programme held in Tamale in the Northern region.

Amount released to the Scholarship Secretariat will be used to organize foreign and local best farming practice for the farmers and their workers and their farming community members.

While part of the money will be used to sponsor the educational needs of their children from tertiary to PHD levels.

The meeting was held to brief the farmers how government intends to sponsor their educational programs and their beneficiaries.

Registrar of Scholarship Secretariat, Kingsly Agyemang who spoke with Ultimate FM’s Isaac Justice Bediako in Kumasi after the meeting confirmed receipt of the money in Kumasi over the weekend.

Beneficiaries of the scholarship package who couldn’t hide their joy at the meeting for the support given them commended government for the initiative.

National best farmer, James Obeng Boateng indicated the scholarship program will go a long way to help Ghanaian farmers and improve their welfare. – Isaac Justice Bediako
