The National Peace Council has asked government to extend training on identifying early warning sgns of terrorism to cover the citizenry.

The Chairman of the Ashanti Regional branch, Rt. Rev. Christopher Andam said this at a capacity building training for Council members in Kumasi.

He said although government and the security agencies have indicated they are stepping up security especially at the country’s borders, much more will have to be done and that include involvement of citizens.

“We appreciate the efforts of the government and our security agencies for taking steps to act on the early warning signs. It is our humble plea that training on identifying early warning signs of terrorist attacks could be extended beyond the security personnel to affect the general public, civil society organization, churches, mosque so that the entire citizenry will become sensitized o the issue and take the necessary precautions.

“In the meantime, I would want to advise the good people of Ghana in general and particularly in Ashanti Region to take their security seriously. We should be cautions about strangers in our communities and gatherings and quickly report such to the appropriate quarters.”
