The Chief of Wenchiki near Chereponi in the North East Region, Naa Abubakar Awufor has urged President Akufo Addo to sack the Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul for fueling the ongoing conflict between Konkombas and Chokosis.

The Chief who belongs to the Chokosi ethnic group has accused the Defence Minister who’s a Konkomba of empowering his people to attack them in the renewed clashes which started on Saturday and has resulted in the death of one person with scores of people displaced.

Several communities in the conflict area have been torched while many people including government workers are said to be fleeing from the area.

Sixteen persons have so far been arrested. One of the suspects who fired at security personnel was shot in the thigh and is receiving treatment at the Chereponi hospital under security guard.

A number of weapons have also been seized from the feuding factions, with the police and military team patrolling the communities bringing the situation under control.

Speaking to Akwasi Nsiah on Kasapa News, Naa Abubakar Awufor said the only way there will be peace among the feuding factions is for the President to axe the Defence Minister.

He said Chokosis are born warriors but peaceful and will launch a fierce onslaught only when they are attacked by the Konkombas.

“Konkombas are many times more than Chokosis but we are warriors who don’t fear war. We don’t like fighting but we don’t also fear to fight if they attack us ten times we’ll defeat them ten times. If they don’t attack us, we also don’t attack them. If they bring the fight to us, we’ll not run because our ancestors who were warriors taught us to be fearless. We don’t use foreign manufactured guns, we use only the locally manufactured guns and by God’s grace we’ll never be defeated.”
