Management of embattled gold dealership Company, Menzgold says they are surprised by government’s continuous hostile posturing vis a vis their woes in recent times.

According to the PRO of the Gold dealership firm, even when the troubled CEO was clutching at the last straw to salvage the situation back home in relation to the Royal Horizon Diamond case in Dubai, government and it’s allied agencies completely deserted him, and failed to cooperate to surmount the problems.

“I’m very surprised that with all the evidence adduced before government and we’ve even presented all documents to show that we’ve shipped that amount of gold to a certain company and they owed us, but up till now it’ll surprise you to know that government hasn’t come to the aid of the company and the CEO to fight this suit. The overriding interest was to get this money and come and pay our customers who are Ghanaians. So we are indeed surprised that up till now government hasn’t come together with us to fight this issue,”he told host Kweku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 Fm Wednesday.

His comment follows the Dubai high court ruling in favour of NAM 1 in the appeal case brought against him by Royal Horizon Diamond in Dubai.

The Dubai high court hearing the case involving Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah and his Arabian debtors, Royal Horison, upheld its earlier ruling ordering the United Arab Emirates-based company to pay up $39 million owed the Ghanaian.

The court at its sitting on Tuesday over an appeal filed by Royal Horison also ordered the company to pay NAM1 compensation for the period he has been incarcerated in Dubai.

Royal Horison, feeling hard done by when the court ruled in April in favour of NAM and Menzgold, filed an appeal to overturn the ruling but the court said the appeal lacked merit.

Reacting to the development, the Company’s PRO, Nii Armah Amartefio bemoaned that since it forwarded a petition to government on June,03, 2019 no response or whatsoever has come from them.

“We copied CID, Chief of Staff, Attorney General and everybody but no response has come and regardless of all that we’ve won the appeal on our own merit. And that should tell you we’d a strong case and indeed Menzgold company was doing a genuine business in Ghana,” he said.

He added:”That is why we were pushing government so hard that they will revoke the red alert so that he can also chase the other monies owed him in other places.”

For him, Menzgold customers may heave a sigh of relief following the victory of Nana Appiah Mensah in the appeal case.
