An Accra Circuit Court has granted the Police a restraining order against the Pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) planned demonstration set for tomorrow, September, 29.
The police prayed the court for the injunction disclosing that it had picked intelligence that suspected hardened criminals had planned an attack, rob and cause panic within Accra and other regions.
The court granted the police its request and urged the LMVCA leadership to fix another date in the month of October to allow the police adequate time to prepare to ensure their (demonstrators) safety.
An Accra The court had earlier Monday morning ruled that LMVCA was free to picket at the premises of the EC because the motion sought by the police to injunct the group has expired.
LMVCA was in court today to set aside an injunction filed by the Police to restrain the group from embarking on a second demonstration to back calls for a new voters register ahead of the 2016 elections.
