The 3rd edition of the Wear Ghana Month initiative has been officially launched at the Premises of the GBC Club House in Accra.

The initiative, from Street Fashion Train Foundation, is supported by the Association of Small Scale Industry  (ASSI) and the various recognized associations under the fashion and beauty industry.

The groups believe that one of the ways the country can grow its economy is by promoting locally-made clothes.

The various associations include, Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA),Ghana Garment Makers Association (GGMA), Ghana Hairdressers and Beautician Association (GHABA), National Association of Beautician and Hairdressers (NABH) , Ghana Cooperative Fashion Designers Association (GCFDA), Ghana Barbers Association(GBA), Budumburam Barbers Association (BBA).

Speaking at the event, the various speakers delivered their presentations on the importance of investing in fashion and beauty products that were proudly made in Ghana.

The launch was chaired by the director of projects at the Private Enterprise Federation, Mr Adonko.

He said the private sector employs more Ghanaians than the government sector hence there is the need for special attention to be given to the private sector to be able to harness its full potential to create more job to help employ more people.

He lauded the initiative of the Wear Ghana Month and pledged their full support for the event.

President of Association of Small-Scale Industries Alhaji Saeed Moomen who is also the Board Chairman of Wear Ghana Month lauded the initiative of the wear Ghana month initiative.

According to him, the campaign will boost small enterprises in the country and also bring about self-independence.

He further urged Ghanaians to come on board and help make the Wear Ghana Month a successful.

Alhaji Mohammed Umar, the national president of Ghana Garment Makers association, expressed his delight at the Wear Ghana month initiative.

According to him, the campaign to get the masses to wear clothes made in Ghana by Ghanaians will not only create jobs but also bring self-independence to many.

He further urged the masses to embrace the campaign of Wear Ghana month as a sign of patriotism and nationalism.

Mr Daniel Shankson Blankson, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman for Ghana National Tailor and Dressmakers Association also added his voice and said the association has been part of this initiative since it was initiated in 2018 and it was because he knew it is going to help the fashion industry to grow tremendously.

A representative from the National Board for Small Scale Industry (NBSSI) and BUSAC Fund were also there to support the event.
