Two persons have been confirmed dead while five others have sustained injuries in a shooting incident at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
Confirming the incident, the Central Regional Police PRO Irene Oppong revealed that the injured include a police officer who’s receiving treatment at Mankessim Roman Hospital receiving treatment.
She explained that the shooting incident happened during the installation of a new queen mother for the area which was met with resistance from a rival faction.
The incident has thrown the residents into a state of fear with many fleeing for their lives on suspicion that there could be further attacks.
The five injured people are receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the incident.
