Michael Essien says the decision to move to Greek giants Panathinaikos was an easy one that didn’t require too much thinking.
Speaking to journalists on arrival at the club Essien, who is eyeing a Champions League slot next year says he is upbeat about his chances at his new club.
“It was a very easy decision for me. I know a lot about Panathinaikos, and i used to have a friend who played here a long time ago; so when they came to approach me it was very easy for me to make my decision.
“I spoke to Djibril Cisse; i called him and told him Panathinaikos have gotten in touch with me. He told me ‘go my brother you will love it’.
“Panathinaikos is a big club and they used to play in Europe. The objective is to play in Europe.”
