The Member of Parliament for Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency Hon. Alex Adomako Mensah has moved in to support health facilities in his constituency to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
At a brief ceremony in Drobonso, the district capital yesterday, the MP presented logistics worth over GH¢10,000.00 to the District Health Directorate to be distributed to the clinics and CHPS compounds to help curb the spread of the deadly pandemic.
The items include 45 boxes of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, 42 Veronica buckets, 42 receivers, 100 packs of tissue, 50 bottles of liquid soap, 4 boxes of nose masks and 2 boxes of disposable gloves.
In his presentation, the MP who is also a Member of the parliamentary select Committee on Finance said he was doing this to ensure his people are safe, adding that the gesture was out of his own pocket. He used the opportunity to encourage everyone to observe closely the preventive measures spelt out by the health ministry and WHO.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Health Director, Mr. Michael Linsey thanked the MP for the gesture while asking for more to do more. He said the Health Directorate lacks a lot of logistics and appealed to the MP to always heed to their cry and support the directorate as he has been doing.
Mr. Linsey who is the Disease Control Officer revealed that the district has recorded two suspected COVID-19 cases and has sent their samples to KCCR and awaiting results. Meanwhile, the two have been self quarantined in their homes.
A similar presentation was made at St. Vincent De Paul Clinic. On phone conversation, Mr. Moses Akrugu, Secretary to the former administrator of the clinic thanked the MP and asked specifically for thermometer gun, infrared equipment used to monitor patients’ temperature.
