The District Chief Executive for Kwahu South Hon Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr has advised visitors who have come from different areas to stay home during the Easter Days.
Following the coronavirus outbreak, the Traditional Authorities have placed a ban on this year’s Kwahu Easter Festival.
Despite a lockdown in Accra and Kumasi, some natives and visitors have traveled to Kwahu.
Speaking to Agoo FM’s Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor the DCE said there is no lockdown in Kwahu and Eastern Region as a whole and for that matter, people have taken advantage to troop in.
“We can’t stop anyone from coming and besides we have not experienced any lockdown but we will urge all visitors to stay home. We have not recorded any case so far but looking at the number of people coming here, the possibility to record a case is high so we are pleading with everyone to stay at home. No one should hesitate to caĺl the emergency lines should they experience any symptoms.” he said.
On his part, the DCE for Kwahu East Hon Isaac Agyapong added that it will be advisable for everyone to stay wherever they are instead of visiting Kwahu.
According to him, there are no Easter activities and due to the risk involved, the best antidote to prevent the spread of the disease is to stay home.
Some traders and residents expressed worry about the situation and pray coronavirus is over for a possible Easter Festival at a later date.
As at Thursday 9th April, 2020, all major centers in Kwahu where various activities take place are calm.
