The Ashanti Regional Security Council will effective Wednesday, April 22, 2020, compel members of the pubic to wear nose masks to prevent spreading of the COVID-19.
Though many people have purchased face mask they have refused to wear it claiming it feels uncomfortable when it’s one.
The Ashanti Region has so far recorded 68 cases with 3 deaths while 6 persons have recovered.
The Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah who’s the Head of the Regional Security Council in an interview stated that security personnel will be mandated to enforce all preventive protocols including the wearing of nose masks even as the lockdown has been lifted.
“Everybody must be able to acquire the face mask today and tomorrow. If we see you without face mask and you’re in public we will return you to go back home until you get the face mask. Especially in the market areas and areas we have large crowds.”
President Akufo-Addo has encouraged Ghanaians to wear facemasks wherever they go, as part of measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The President said the Ministry of Health will soon issue guidelines on facemasks for public use.
Nana Akufo-Addo gave the advice in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, 19 April 2020, via which he also lifted the three-week-old partial lockdown in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi due to the country’s ability to undertake aggressive contact-tracing of infected persons.
