The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate is set to begin the voluntary testing of commercial vehicle drivers and market women for coronavirus.
These persons, according to the directorate are classified as high risk individuals and hence the need for such exercise within the jurisdiction.
The Ashanti regional director of the health service, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang explaining this said the targeting of these group has become necessary because they largely come into contact with a lot of people as part of their activities.
The move earmarked for the region forms part of the enhanced surveillance by health officials to trace contacts suspected to be carrying the virus.
At least 68 confirmed cases have been recorded in the Ashanti region with three deaths.
