Oswald Okaitei, a multi-award winning Ghanaian poet and Spoken word artiste who is a World Poetry Director in the country is one of the promising young Poets & Spoken word artistes the world has now.

In the wake of the Novel Covid-19 pandemic, when there’s a call globally for creative persons to come on board, he has chosen to join the fight with his spoken-word piece dubbed “The Clarion Call: Woyawoya!”.

The spoken-word piece that encourages all and sundry to get on board in the fight against this global enemy describes the war as a journey which would not be an easy one and yet must be fought till the banner of victory is raised up high.

Finely put together with an African beat produced by Knii Lantei in the background, the piece features an enterprising young singer, Lozo, who sings the chorus with the poet/Spoken word artiste.

Oswald Okaitei has proven himself in the field of poetry and spoken word acts as one of the finest over the years and has shared performance platforms with international spoken word icons as Muta Baruka, Prof. Atukwei Okai, Prof. Kofi Anyidoho, Rocky Dawuni among others. He has also jointly performed with the Ghana Dance Ensemble, Abibgromma (National Drama Company of Ghana), the National Symphony Orchestra, among others. He is, if not the first, one of the foremost artistic creators in Ghana who have successfully stringed different poems into dramatic acts to the admiration of several audiences.

According to him, “The Clarion Call: Woyawoya!” is one of the numerous creative contents he would be bringing on board to help in the education, encouragement and the fight during this insightful period’.

The piece after its production has been transcribed into video slides by Fafa Asamany and is currently aired by GBC News and soon will be on Zylofon Television.
