As part of measures to fight Coronavirus, Assembly members in the Kwahu West Municipality and Kwahu South District of Eastern Region have indicated they’ll stop people from using the Kwahu Mountain for fitness walk.

Most youth in Kwahu as part of exercising their body on Saturday and Sunday dawn walk from Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West to Atibie, Obomeng, Obo and Mpraeso in Kwahu South District.

The number of these youth who involve in such fitness walk according to health expert is dangerous during this period of fighting Coronavirus.

According to them, due to the huge number, the youth cannot practice social or physical distancing which is a source of worry.

The Assembly members claim they have on several occasions advised the youth to stop but they never listen hence they have informed the two Municipal District Chief Executives Lawyer Yaw Owusu Addo (Kwahu West MCE) and Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr (Kwahu South) to put measures in place to stop them.

You cannot use nose masks during fitness walk and they are not practicing social distancing. We are pleading with them because the exercise could be done at home, you should adhere to the call for your own benefits. Since the Two DCE’s have been informed, arrests will be made from tomorrow (Saturday). We don’t want anyone to be arrested so all must comply with this directive’’ they told host Obaahemaa Yaa Mirekua.
