Some Assembly Members in Kwahu have joined forces to Crack down hunters who cause fire outbreak in the Odweanoma Mountain.

Last Year, the Kwahu Mountain experienced the worse fire outbreak as compared to the previous years.

Following the fire outbreak, experts warned the mountain risk collapsing should the menace continue.

Nananom led by Kwahuhene Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II president of the Kwahu Traditional Council however poured libations calling upon the gods of the land to punish the perpetrators.

EIB Network’s Nkawkaw-based Agoo Fm as part of their social responsibility has engaged almost all the various Stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the problem.

They include Atibie Chief who doubles as Gyaasehene for Kwahu Traditional Council, Obomeng Chief Nana Effah Opinaman III, MCE for Kwahu South Municipal Assembly Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr, Kwahu South Municipal Fire Commander D03 Anthony Yaw Mayebi, Kwahu South Agric Directorate, Kwahu West Municipal Fire PRO DO3 Kwakye Addo and the various Assembly Members and Farmers.

The Radio Engagement with Stakeholders begun in November 2020 before the 2020 General Election.

The Two Chiefs and the other Stakeholders have expressed their commitment to ensure the rate at which fire destroy some portions of the mountain reduce to a minimum level.

Speaking today on the Morning show, the Assembly Members and One Unit Committee Member which include Assemblyman for Obomeng Electoral Area Eric Oware Agyapong, Assemblyman for Ohantrase Bronoso Electoral Obo, Kwame Sefa, Assembly man for Twerenease AkokobenomNsuo Electoral Area Darffour Ofosu Daniel, and Atibie Committee Secretary, Ameyaw Benjamin Owusu stated category that their outfit will not entertain perpetrators behind the fire outbreak.

“We are going to chase hunters who cause fire outbreak on the Odweanoma Mountain, this season, all the necessary steps have been taken to crack them down. It doesn’t matter who the person may be, even my father when caught will be punished to serve as deterrent to others.” they told hostess Obaahemaa Yaa Mirekua.

The Assembly Members expressed appreciation to the various MDCEs, and Chiefs in the area for support in the fight against fire outbreak in Kwahu.

They however used the opportunity to appeal to the public to desist from any form of act that may lead to fire outbreak.
