The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Secondi-Takoradi, Hon Kobina Kurentsir Sam, has died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Kasapafmonline.com is reliably informed.

A close aide to the mayor in an interview with Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan stated that his former Boss died of COVID-19.

Mr K.K Sam’s death has occurred after his personal driver recently tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

The Mayor’s driver was reportedly put into isolation however the Mr Sam continued to report to work despite calls for him to self-isolate.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 498 new cases of COVID-19 taking the country’s total case count to 10,856.

The death toll still remains at 48 with recoveries shooting up to 3,921, the Ghana Health Service announced in its latest update.
