Anti-corruption Pressure group Occupy Ghana, will tomorrow commemorate its 1st anniversary celebration with  series of lectures at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.

The event dubbed “The Journey is the destination” will feature speakers including 2012 flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Former CEO of VRA Dr Charles Wereko Brobbey, Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, Lawyer Ace Ankoma, Egbert Faibille Junior, George Amankwa , Mr. Peter Mac Manu and Anis Haffar.

Highlighting the rationale behind the event, a leading member of the group and renowned Banker Yoofi Grant who spoke to kaspafmonline.com, disclosed that the lectures will centre on issues that bother all Ghanaians in the country.

Speakers he observed will bring patrons of the celebration to reality of how the country has fared over the years in terms of democracy and proffer suggestions on the way forward in resolving major challenges confronting the current democratic process.

According to him, the anniversary lectures are aimed at engaging the citizenry in playing a critical role in the governance of the country as partners in development.

“Good governance is the basic foundation for any democracy. Citizens put the governments in place and must not hesitate to hold the people they have elected to account for their stewardship”

To this end Mr. Grant indicated that Occupy Ghana will continue the conversation to ensure that the citizenry o hold politicians accountable for the action and in actions as their toil in queuing for long hours to vote for them into power is not an exercise in futility
