A former Director of the Ghana Health Service, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa says Ghana has deviated from the core essence of contemporary politics, insisting that the country’s own brand of politics is enriching oneself through dubious means.
The leading member of the Convention People’s Party(CPP) was livid that politics in Ghana has lost substance, which he said has been reduced to a trade of professing vain promises.
Interacting with Fiiffi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Thursday, Prof. Akosa said this leaves much to be desired for the future of the country.
“Politics has no future in Ghana-We don’t understand politics. Today is no longer politics of ideas, but rather making vain promises. Even an assemblyman who is not paid can be making promises he knows cannot be achieved. This is our own brand of politics in Ghana,” he bemoaned.
Commenting on what he feels is the sorry state of our elections in the country, Prof. Akosa contended that he foresees the 2016 elections as a show of ‘moneytex’, predicting that the few politicians who won’t influence electorates with fat monies will lose out come 2016 general elections.
““I tell you, you’ve got to influence the people with money.”
