The Ghana Education Service(GES) Council says the Ghana Health Service(GHS) and the Ministry of Health will advise it accordingly when it becomes crucial to shut down schools.

The NDC Minority in Parliament has asked government to reconsider the partial reopen of schools, following the detection of COVID-19 cases in the Accra Girls Senior High School.

We must prioritize the lives of the students, after all, how can sick or dead students write exams. The examinations can be postponed but the safely of our future leaders cannot be postponed.”

Reacting to the call by the largest opposition NDC and some other CSOs on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 Fm, Chairman of the GES council, Michael Nsowah maintained that no part of the society is spared by the scourge of the deadly covid-19 virus, hence sending kids back home is not an option.

“The covid-19 has entered everywhere in the world. There is no part of the society where you don’t have covid-19. What we have to do is to ensure we protect ourselves. We’re all at risk and so wearing of nose mask, washing our hands frequently and others should be observed at all times.GES has measures in place to protect the kids in school, “he said.
