AngloGold Ashanti and Randgold Resources partnership  will create a minimum of 3,500 jobs for the people, officials say.

This arrangement will largely seek to respond to agitations by locals to get some slot as the company fully opens employment processes for operations.

Redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine will extensively create a boom for  business community of Obuasi, should it begin full-scale operations, Chief Executive Officer of Rand-Gold Mark Bristow stated in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM.

Randgold employs “about 3,500 people  in Kibali in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and probably about a similar number in Loulo-Gounkoto mine which are both big mines – somewhere around that is what we will eventually employ.”

Obuasi Gold Mines has bounced back to its full mechanized mine operations, following a joint venture investment between AngloGold Ashanti and Randgold Resources.

The Obuasi Gold Mines has been running limited operations since the end of last year. However the joint venture will re-develop and power the operations of the mine, officials say.
