The family of the late Adams Mahama have said the National Chairman and General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong can attend this weekend’s funeral of the deceased.

They have thus distanced themselves from a group in the region that is asking the two not to attend the funeral.

“We have not barred Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong from attending the funeral. Take it from me”, said Spokesperson for Adams Mahama family, Rockson Bukari.

In an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday, he said they family has taken no such stance.

A communicator of the NPP in the Upper East Region, Latif Solomon, claiming to represent the youth in the area cautioned Mr. Afoko and Agyepong not to attend the final funeral rites of the late Adams Mahama because their safety could not be guaranteed.

According to him, the position of the youth represents the position of the family of the late Adams Mahama.

But Mr. Bukari in a rebuttal said the family of the late Adams Mahama has not barred Agyepong and Afoko from attending the funeral of Mahama.

The funeral comes off this Sunday, June 7, 2015 in Bolgatanga.

Security at the funeral grounds, according to family Spokesperson, is rest assured.
