For the 3rd time, Ghana Reads Initiative hosts its communal reading project dubbed ‘Ghana Reads!’.

As an annual project of the 2016 Pan African Poet/Spoken word artiste, Oswald Okaitei, ‘Ghana Reads!’ seeks to revive the dying library culture in the country and help create a new generation of readers in Ghana.

Adapting to the New Normal, this year’s edition of the project is set to have two phases—the Physical session and virtual sessions.

The Physical session will be held on the 7th of October, 2020 to commemorate the International Reading Day at the KorleGonno Community Library and is set to engage children from Chorkor, KorleGonno, Jamestown and other suburbs within the Mamprobi Community to interact literarily with societal icons as Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, Prof. Lade Wosornu, Manasseh Awuni Azure, Ruby Goka, Dr. Gheysika Agambilla, Blakk Rasta among others.

Other personalities that will have sessions with the children in the form of workshops and conversations include NiiOdarteyLampety, ace GBC Newscaster and currently Channel Manager for ObonuTv, Thelma NaaTackie, Valerie Danso, Abdul Hayi-Moomen (Broadcast journalists with GBC), Ridwan Kaim-Dani-Osman (Senior Broadcast Journalist with GHOneTv), Kwame OwusuDanso (Broadcast Journalist with Pan-African Tv/ Youth & Political Activist).

Other dignitaries that will grace the physical session of the 2020 Ghana Reads!’ include NaanaKabukuor Dumaaley I [Paramount Queen of Ada Traditional Area], Hon. Theophilus Isaac Quaye [Assembly Member for Chorkor Electoral Area], Mr.AsareKonaduYamoah [President, Ghana Book Publishers Association & Chairman, Ghana Cultural Forum] and Dr. Wale Okediran [Secretary-General of the Pan-African Writers Association] who is the Keynote Speaker.These dignitaries would have reading sessions with the children to encourage them to cultivate the habbit of reading during their leaisure.

Other activities for the day will be the launch of e-books by Foundation for Security and Development in Africa and Drich Discount Account and Rad2Play video game sessions.

The virtual sessions which be from 8-10 October, will host Abdul Hayi-Moomen, Manasseh Azure Awuni, ApiorkorSeyiramAshong Abbey and Dr. GheysikaAgambila in reading sessions on zoom and an Online Review of Bureau of Ghana Languages’ Book

of Prof. Lade’ Wosornu’s Poems Translated into Ghanaian languages. Details of the sessions
