As part of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School’s 80th anniversary marking, the Drama Club of the school honours one of Ghana’s finest poet (and astute retired surgeon)—Prof. Lade Wosornu.

Prof. Lade Wosronu, an Old student of the school and one of the few Ghanaians who have broken the myth—that science and creative arts have no strong connection—has travelled round the world curing patients in the theatre and healing the souls of men with beautiful & inspirational poems. Prof. Wosornu, a prominent figure in the Ghanaian literary & academic landscape, an essayist and columnist on a range of health issues in Ghanaian papers has three collections of poetry works—Ete’ & Other Poems, Celestial Bride & Other Poems and Journey Without Ends & Other Poems… Some of his works mostly read and learnt in schools are THE MASTER BREWER (in Senior High Schools ) and DESERT RIVER (now learnt in Basic Schools).

In honouring him, the Drama Club performs his poem, DEAD HEAT, which prophesied the current situation of USA’s now and her relation with the African states, about twenty three years ago.

Set in the USA Embassy in Accra in the 21st century, the production depicts the worries of African citizens (bundled in poems also by Prof. Wosornu) and the relation between the Consul and the many Visa seekers.

The performance, designed to last for an hour, is a bricolage—comprises drama, music, dance & poetry performance. It was conceptualised and directed by another Old student of the school, Oswald Okaitei (multi-award winning young Ghanaian poet/spoken word artiste, playwright and artistic Director) and produced by the school.

The date for the production is Saturday, 03 March, 2018, at the Assembly Hall of the school at 3pm. Entrance is free.
