Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS has appealed to the media to endeavour to use innovative platforms and channels to promote healthy living among adolescents.

This he said, would help in the campaign for good adolescent health and well-being.

The 2014 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS) preliminary report indicates that teenage pregnancy rate among adolescents aged 15–19 years has gone up by 14%.

The Ghana Health Service through its Adolescent Health and Development Programme and other health partners have introduced several interventions to address the many health issues facing the contemporary adolescent.

The media training focused on related issues that affect adolescents such as early and high risk pregnancy, unwanted pregnancy, abortion (unsafe) and sexual abuse.
