The Management of the National Service Secretariat has dismissed 163 staff of the scheme who were indicted in alleged financial malfeasance between the 2013-2014 service year.

A statement issued and signed by the Executive Director of the Scheme, Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte Thursday, said 35 of them are currently being prosecuted for their involvement in the rot uncovered within the service months ago.

The staff, including two persons who are on retirement, are also to be prosecuted and made to refund monies they embezzled using “ghost name scam”.

“The dismissals are without prejudice to criminal prosecutions by the State. This is in line with President John Mahama’s resolve to fight corruption and abuse of public office,” the statement said.

It also noted that the indicted personnel upon the advice of the Bureau of National Investigation(BNI) have started paying back the monies they’ve embezzled.
