The main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has asked its supporters and party agents to be vigilant at the various polling stations as voting is being wrapped up in less than an hour.
Addressing a Press conference at the party headquarters in Accra, the Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah entreated NDC supporters to go back to their respective polling stations to observe the counting of ballots set to begin soon.
“We wish to call on all our supporters and patriotic Ghanaians who have voted not to sit home especially in the Ashanti region, to go back to the polling station to observe the process Don’t stay home! It’s your presence and vigilance that has brought us this far. So everybody go back and observe the process, be vigilant, stand your ground, and ensure that the right thing is done.”
He hinted that per their information gathered, the NPP has charged its men to intensify various forms of electoral fraud as counting of ballots begins.
“We’re told that Kwabre NPP Chairman, one Odeneho is the one who is in charge of the ballot-stuffing operation across the country. So we want Odeneho to know that we know and he’s being monitored and watched. He should desist from that offense…”
Meanwhile, the NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Kwame Zu earlier alleged that several EC officials in the Adansi Asokwa and other constituencies were aiding and directing voters to cast their ballot for the NPP candidate.
The NDC also alleged that the incumbent MP, KT Hammond in the company of some thugs scuttled the peaceful voting process and attempted to intimidate some voters.
The NDC among a litany of allegations also claimed that some voters in Ejisu were handed already thumb-printed ballot papers and urged the voters to drop them in the ballot boxes.
Zu alleged that the already thumb-printed ballot papers were done secretly at Georgia Hotel according to their sources. The party also claimed that the EC in some polling stations were using a new yellow ink for validation.
