Even though the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to release its certified results on the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary election, reports suggest that the seat has been retained by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The incumbent NPP MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, wrote on her Facebook wall some few minutes ago, thanking God for answering her prayer.
“Thank you God for an answered prayer. Thank you Ayawaso West Wuogon for this Victory. I take my scripture from Proverbs 21:31”, a post by Lydia Seyram Alhassan indicating victory in the parliamentary poll.
She contested the seat with actor, John Dumelo, from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who put up a spirited fight but lost.
Domelo was hopeful of winning the seat for the NDC after taking an early lead.
“I’m thinking about winning. The polling stations that I have heard so far I’m leading by a huge gap”, he told Accra-based Adom FM in an interview when the results were being collated.
