Centre for National Culture, Kumasi, under the auspices of National Commission on Culture, Accra (NCC) with funding from COVID-19 Trust Fund has begun COVID-19 awareness-raising campaign in Districts/Municipals in Ashanti Region using THEATRE FOR DEVELOPMENT as a tool of communication.

This forms part of the Government’s unalloyed efforts in combating the pandemic. Theatre is a powerful weapon in COVID-19 prevention and awareness.

It serves as a mirror of a community’s behaviour. As the drama, written and directed by me, Emmanuel Jewel Peprah Mensah, is performed by a local drama group for local audiences in a local language, it has the ability to reach an audience member with the COVID-19 prevention messages that can have a lasting impact.

Side attractions include Choral music, Poetry and Traditional Dance/Music centred on COVID-19.

The non-pharmaceutical measures such a masking up, hand washing, use of sanitiser, etc., are strongly encouraged at our campaign destinations.

Health OFFICIALS from the Municipals serve as FACILITATORS.
