Pupils in schools in Mankessim in the Central Region are appealing to the government to provide them with speed ramps and traffic lights at Mankessim due to the rampant cases of vehicles crushing people to death.

According to them, they are struck with fear whenever they have to go to school as they dread being knocked down by over speeding vehicles.

The worried pupils who registered their displeasure about the current situation through a demonstration Tuesday believe the provision of speed ramps on the Mankessim to Cape Coast Highway is the surest way to prevent the rampant vehicle knockdowns on that stretch.

Some concerned teachers told EIB Network Central Regional Correspondent, Yaw Boagyan that the situation has negatively affected enrollment as many parents are withdrawing their kids from schools in the area.

They are therefore calling on the Minister of Highways to immediately construct Speed Ramps and Traffic Light for the people in the Mfantseman Municipality to solve the problem.

The Assemblyman for New Nkusukum Electoral Area Hon. Mohammed Ekow Arthur in an interview said though he has reported the challenges to the Municipal Assembly nothing has been done about it.
