Hon. E.T Mensah

Former Deputy Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Lawyer Baba Jamal has admonished party founding member and Statesman, E.T Mensah to avoid engaging in unnecessary controversy to ensure his hard-earned reputation remains intact.

According to him, it would be unfortunate for E.T Mensah who has a solid political reputation to lose his respect through dabbling in needless arguments over the Saglemi Housing project which is currently a subject of prosecution.

The former Minister of Works and Housing last week caused a stair after he described assertions made on the Saglemi Housing project by his NDC party Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi as outright falsehood.

But speaking on the issue in an interview on Okay FM Monday monitored by Kasapafmonline.com, Baba Jamal who’s the NDC’s Deputy Director of Legal Affairs stated that the member of the Council of State will make himself a great deal of good if he’s exercises circumspection.

“He’s lived a fulfilling life, he’s seen it all in life and has toiled for the NDC party, he should be careful he does not ruin his own reputation with certain undesired conduct. We have so much respect for him, for me, one cannot speak ill of E.T Mensah because of the tutelage he’s given to some of us. I will beg of him, he should hold his reputation dear to himself and avoid acts that will cause political disturbance and soil his name and that of his family. We started doing politics in NDC will many people but because of certain anti-party conduct, they’ve been kicked out of the party. If we are talking about the top advisors in NDC I don’t think anybody can leave out E.T Mensah. He’s so many years older than me, but my little advice is that he should stay out of unnecessary controversy in order to keep his reputation and a respected statesman.”

Meanwhile, a member of the NDC, Mr Benjamin Essuman has filed a petition against Enoch Teye Mensah, former NDC Member of Parliament and current Member of the Council of State.

The petition, which was addressed to the National Chairman of the NDC and the General Secretary of the party, was presented to the party’s secretariat at the National Headquarters, Wednesday.

Mr. Essuman in the petition referred to an interview that Mr. E.T Mensah granted on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, on Tuesday 3rd August, in which the former MP and former Minister rubbished the claims of NDC and its National Communication Officer and which claims E.T Mensah described on Metro TV as outright falsehoods.

The petitioner cited provisions in Articles 47, 48 and 49 of the NDC Constitution as legal basis for his action and also grounds upon which ET Mensah must be dragged before the Disciplinary Committee.

He is further demanding that Mr. ET Mensah per his conduct, be sanctioned for what the NDC Constitution describes as ‘anti-party behavior’.
