President Akufo Addo has stated that he will do everything possible to ensure that chieftaincy dispute in Okuapeman is resolved to pave way for gazetting of Okuapehene Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo II.
President Akufo Addo said for the fact that Akropong is his hometown, he owes it a duty to bring finality to the chieftaincy dispute in Okuapeman.
Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo II,35, known in private life as Odehye Kwadwo Kesse Antwi succeeded Oseadeeyo Nana Addo Dankwa III who died six years ago.
He was enstooled Okuapehene on May 3, 2020. However, the Paramount Queen-mother Nana Afua Nketiaa Obuo II and a faction in Sakyiabea Royal family are still litigating that, laid down Traditional processes were not duly followed hence the process is null and void which concomitantly, makes Okuapehene illegitimate Paramount Chief hence battling him at the law court and House of Chiefs.
But according to President Akufo Addo, the dispute will be resolved just as he has achieved in Yendi and Ga.
“Just three days ago, it was reported in the Dailies that the hostilities and litigation that hit the Ga stool and the Regional House of Chief have been settled and today the Ga-Mantse has been gazetted and he’s taken his position as the President of the Ga Traditional Council. The second major chieftaincy dispute settled amicably in my regime. The same was replicated in the protracted Yendi chieftaincy dispute which is now over as peace and development have been restored.”
President Akufo Addo said this Wednesday, October 6, 2021, when he paid a courtesy call on Okuapehene at the palace in Akropong as part of the second day of his three-day tour of the Eastern Region.
Okuapehene Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo II in his brief speech commended President Akufo Addo for his numerous development projects in Akuapem area and other parts of the country.
He urged the president to continue the trend and do more for the betterment of the country.
