The linear relationship between effective teachings/teacher competency and pupil’s learning outcome is well documented in various literature.

However, in an attempt to bring out success in the skills of individuals (students), improved digital and factual writing skills play a vital role in this course.

Wikimedia in partnership with the British Council organized a stakeholders’ launch of the skills for the success project on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the British Council.

In attendance were the Education Advisor of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Mrs. Grace Wood, Deputy Director-General of Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.

In a speech by Mr Chikodi Onyemerela, Acting Country Director, Ghana, and Cameroon for British Council, he submitted the essence of improving Digital literacy and Factual writing skills in the young ones in the country which will enable them to better understand how to use the internet as a learning and research resource, actively engaged in online space in a professional context, and improve the quality of their written communication both academically and professionally, and develop their use of digital tools.

According to him, the ongoing pandemic has taught a huge lesson in the importance of digital literacy and factual writing skills in education.

He said “you will agree with me that the ongoing pandemic has dealt a huge blow in our national lives and worse on the education sector with attendance, learning losses, and learning poverty which are well documented. Education establishments across the globe are scampering to cushion the effect of this crisis with a deluge of resources hosted online.”

He finally added that teachers and students should take advantage of this opportunity in building a strong learning and teaching strategy in the country.
