A former Pathologist of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital who performed the Post-Moterm examination on the body of the late New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Upper East Regional Chairman Adams Mahama has said, the late NPP man died from “extensive acid burns.”
Dr Lawrence Edusei, who is currently operating a private laboratory but works as a visiting consultant to the 37 Military Hospital explained that the “cause of death was unnatural.”
The Pathologist while testifying as the ninth Prosecution Witness in the case in which Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangde are standing trial for murder tendered in his post mortem examination report.
In his concluding remarks of the examination, Dr Edusei who has been a Pathologist since 1999 said “In my opinion, the cause of death is due to extensive acid burns, an unnatural.”
Afoko, described in the facts before the court as a farmer together with Asabke Alangde has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in lawful custody.
In court on Monday, November 29, 2021, the Witness who was led by Chief State Attorney Mrs Marina Appiah Opare to give his Evidence-In-Chief said, on May 21, 2015, he was informed that there is a case from Bolgatanga that his service was needed.
According to him, he was later on picked from his office to the military base in Accra and together with some investigators were taken by the military helicopter to Bolgatanga where he conducted a post mortem examination on the deceased.
