The Director General of Institute for Educational Planning and Administration at the University of Cape Coast Dr. Micheal Boakye Yiadom has advised Headteachers and Teachers to desist from making pupils work on their personal farms and also perform their house chores for them during and after after school hours.
According to him, tasking pupils to perform such jobs is not part of the School curriculum so teachers should desist from such acts.
He added that pupils and students must be allowed to learn at their various houses after school hours hence teachers and Headteachers should not occupy them with out of school work.
Speaking at a two-day Leadership Training Workshop at the University of Education, Ajumako Campus, Dr. Michael Boakye Yiadom advised Teachers to encourage and motivate their pupils to take their lessons seriously.
He also advised the Headteachers and Teachers to encourage teacher and pupils relationship to enable them find out challenges facing the pupils to find solutions to them
The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Education Director, Mrs. Sabina Aba Wilson also urged all Headteachers who have benefitted from the workshop to put the knowledge acquired to good use.
She was confident that the managerial skill acquired by the Headteachers in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District would enable them manage their schools without any difficulties.
Beneficiary headteachers applauded the Education Directorate for organizing such a good programme for them, from which they’ve gained lots of knowledge which will enable them perform their duties effectively.
