The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Central Regional Secretary, Kwamena Duncan has disclosed that members of the opposition party will play a critical role in deciding who eventually becomes Presidential and parliamentary candidates for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the latter’s upcoming primaries slated for November 21.

According to him, NPP members are poised to cast their votes in the NDC primaries when the polls are opened.

He said, that will be the price the NDC will pay for engaging in an earlier exercise the party thought was a smart move.

There have been reports across the country that several names of NPP members have been found in the voters register of the ruling party.

The names of some 200 NPP members in the Berekum East constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region have found their way into the NDC’s voters register. A similar case has been recorded in the Eastern Region as well.

Speaking on Peace FM Wednesday, Mr Kwamena Duncan stated that the NDC will be punished dearly for collecting voters ID cards of people mostly resident outside the regional capitals and registering them in the party’s voters register, with the promise of giving them soft loans and other goodies.

“The character of cheating is embedded deep in the blood of the NDC. When their various leaders were going round collecting peoples national ID cards, they never bothered to find out if they were truly NDC or not, what were they expecting? We the NPP will also vote in their elections come November 21.”

Meanwhile about a month ago Tv3network.com reported NPP National Organizer, John Boadu as saying the NPP had infiltrated the rank and file of the NDC.

Addressing party supporters in the Ashanti region as part of Nana Addo’s ‘Rise and Build’ tour, John Boadu said “when they (NDC) see anyone they ask you to come for a loan and then prepare their party ID card for you.

“They don’t check whether you’re NDC or not. The rationale behind their strategy is that at the end of their registration they would say they had about 6 million people registering as NDC members.

“So at the end of the 2016 elections when they have about 5.8 million votes, you cannot challenge them that they stole the verdict. So they have opened it up and our members have infiltrated and registered.”

The NDC’s Eastern regional chairman, Bismark Tawiah Boateng once said they had credible information that some NPP members had broken into their rank and said they would arrest any such persons.

But when the Director of Communications of the NPP Nana Akomea was asked back then, he described it was a “joke” adding that they have no interest in the elections of the NDC.

However confirming the reports John Boadu told the gathering “when you go back, tell our members who have registered that they should go ahead and vote in the NDC’s elections and elect wrong candidates for them. Next time they would learn sense.”
