A vessel carrying diesel worth millions of Ghana cedis is still stuck in the Black Volta.
Our correspondent, Micah Tulevo who broke the story told Bubu Klinogo that the owners of the vessel, the Volta Lake Transport Company, seem not to be doing anything about the situation.
According to him, what is worse is the refusal of the Company to give explanation to the public as to what is happening.
Meanwhile, residents of communities along the Volta Lake are said to be at risk of losing their livelihoods as a result of climatic conditions.
Our correspondent, Micah Tulevo says because the lake is fast drying up, the residents who are predominantly fishermen will soon be out of business. This he said could lead to extreme poverty and hunger.
Micah Tulevo says the situation has been worsened by the invasion of fulani herdsmen, whose cattle have taken over the banks of the river which serves as an alternative source of livelihood for the people in terms of farming.
