Former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo has hit back at a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) Gabby Asare Otcher Darko over comments that attacked her decision to join the picketing by Pensioner Bondholders Forum at the premises of the Finance Ministry.
A tweet by Gabby Asare Otchere Darko on the issue read in part:
“The former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, may mean well but she erred big time in her basic appreciation of the issues. Rather than asking the Govt for exemption at this late hour, why did she simply not ‘exempt’ herself from exchanging her original bond for the new one!
“Why picket over something you don’t like (the improved offer) when you have the right not to sign up? Sorry, but I struggle to get her emotional outburst over-exemption! I hope she won’t volunteer to picket tomorrow and on the same issues when the time to sign up has expired.
But reacting to Gabby’s comment in an interview with the media while picketing at the Premises of the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, the retired Supreme Court Judge questioned the capacity of Gabby Asare Otchere Darko as he sort to challenge her decision.
“He doesn’t decide for me what I have to do and what I do not have to do, It’s as simple as that. I don’t have time for things like that. People like that are not important to me or to my life. He’s a disturbance that’s all I have to say about it.”
