The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has distributed relief items to victims of this weeks’ floods and GOIL Filling Station inferno that killed many.

The distribution started early morning Saturday between the Nkrumah Circle and Adabraka. Items including water bottles, mosquito nets blankets among others were given to the hundreds who turned up.

The exercise is taking place hours after two West African countries, Senegal and Cote D’ Ivoire presented relief items to the Ghanaian government as support for the victims.

Togolese President, Faure Gnassingbe, led a delegation to tour the Police, 37 Military and Korle-Bu Teaching hospitals.

Wednesday’s inferno and floods has resulted in over 200 deaths. Officials say they are still counting losses in a salvage operation expected to end Sunday.

Bodies retrieved from the wreckage have been deposited at various hospitals in the capital, Accra.
