Speaker of Parliament,  Alban Bagbin has sent a word of caution to President Akufo-Addo over his comments on the anti-gay bill.

The President in a joint media engagement with the visiting US vice President Kalama Harris did not only distance his government from the bill currently before parliament but assured he will come in after Parliament is done with its part.

The President’s comments to the US vice President who asserted gay rights and human rights have been read to mean that he will scuttle the effort to outlaw the activities of gays.

Addressing the breakfast prayer meeting of the Parliamentary Christian Fellowship, the Speaker stated the president cannot stand in the way of the bill.

The former Nadowli-Kaleo MP attributed the comments of the US Vice President to the begging culture of government.

Mr. Bagbin asked the committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs not to be intimated by such comments.

He demanded the committee’s report be presented to the plenary immediately.
